1.1. Organization

In the OpendTect startup and initialisation scripts, the DTECT_APPL environment variable represents the root of the installation.

A directory "opendtect-x.y.z" holds the OpendTect application.
On Mac OS/X (10.5x - Intel) a tar-gzipped Application bundle is available.

The OpendTect parts are organized, on both Windows and UNIX, schematically like:
